Hijewel was born and raised in Taiwan.  She came to the US in the early 80's to pursue advanced study in Journalism.  As a journalist, she helped create the Silicon Valley Chinese entrepreneurship phenomenon with her two-volume The Silicon Valley Legends (矽谷傳奇), published in 1998.  Passionated for creative writing, she also published ten more books on life, relationships, current affairs and human weakness in a humorous tone.   She has lived in San Jose, CA for almost thirty years.  She is happily married and has two grown-up sons.
