Hijewel was born and raised in Taiwan.  She came to the US in the early 80's to pursue advanced study in Journalism.  As a journalist, she helped create the Silicon Valley Chinese entrepreneurship phenomenon with her two-volume The Silicon Valley Legends (矽谷傳奇), published in 1998.  Gifted with a passion for creative writing, she also published ten more books on life, relationships, current affairs and human weakness in a humorous tone.   She has lived in San Jose, CA for almost thirty years.  She is happily married and has two grown-up sons. 

Recently, she has developed an ongoing project "Hijewel Made English Easy"(Hijewel英文秘笈), meant to help Chinese speakers grasp English in a fun and easy way.  The project includes books, speeches and classes, and translating Chinese classic literature into English nursery rhymes.  
 

鄧海珠於八十年代初由台灣至美國攻讀。她曾在全美最大中文報紙世界日報工作多年。她於1988年出版的「矽谷傳奇」，被譽為描寫矽谷高科技華人創業最經典的作品。除了科技報導，她的文藝作品也很豐富，她以獨特的美式思考及幽默，出版幽默小品，廣受讚譽及歡迎，目前在世界部落格及老中地方新聞撰寫幽默專欄。

近期她推出「Hijewel英文秘笈」計劃，以出書、演講、上課等途徑，以她一貫的幽默簡潔方式，協助華人打破中式英文魔咒。
